Mobile car grooming in Auckland, done in your own driveway
Booking a groom usually means giving up half a day and a set of car keys. We bring the gear to your place instead. Park it in the driveway or the work car park, hand over the keys, and get it back clean without going anywhere.

Inside and out
The interior is where most cars actually need help. We vacuum the seats, carpets, mats and boot, get into the seat rails and the gaps beside the console where everything collects, wipe down the dash, doors, console and cupholders, clean the interior glass properly so it doesn’t haze up at the first cold morning, and dress the plastics without leaving them slippery or shining.
Outside, it’s a proper wash rather than a hose-down: wheels and arches first so the brake dust doesn’t end up back on clean paint, then a contact wash top-down, a rinse, a dry with clean towels, and a wax or sealant to give the paint something between it and the weather. Glass is cleaned inside and out, and the door shuts and sills are done because that’s what people see when they open the door.
Seat and carpet shampoo is an add-on for the cars that need it, using the same extraction equipment we use on household upholstery. Full detail packages go further again: clay bar, paint decontamination, machine polish and interior deep clean, which is the level worth doing before a sale.
When people book a groom
Selling or handing back a lease is the biggest trigger. A clean car photographs better, and buyers who open a door onto sand, dog hair and old sunscreen decide the whole car has been neglected whether or not it has. The same applies to end-of-lease inspections, where interior condition is assessed and charged for.
The rest is life. A family wagon after a term of school runs and beach trips. A work ute that spends its days on sites. A car that has carried a wet dog every weekend since autumn. And a fair few people just book a groom every few months, the same way they’d book a house clean, because it’s easier than losing another Sunday to it.
There’s also the quiet one nobody plans for: a car that has to carry someone other than the family. A new job with clients in the passenger seat, a grandparent coming to stay, a road trip north with friends. Those bookings tend to come in on a Thursday for a Friday, and they’re usually an interior job rather than a full detail.
What Auckland does to a car
Cars here get a specific kind of dirty. Sand from the west coast beaches works into carpet and seat seams and never quite vacuums out with a service-station wand. Salt air on the coastal side leaves a film that dulls paint. Sun through the windscreen bakes whatever is on the dash. And the wet months mean mud in the footwells and windows that fog because the carpets never fully dry.
Getting the moisture out matters more than people expect. A car that sits damp develops a smell that no air freshener fixes, so on shampoo jobs we extract heavily and leave it to dry with the doors open and air moving, and we’ll tell you how long to leave it before loading the kids back in.
We come to you anywhere across our Auckland service area, Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm, and we bring what we need. All we ask for is somewhere reasonable to park the car and access to a tap and a power point where the job calls for it.

Questions about car grooming
- Do you need my water and power?
- We bring the equipment and products with us. Access to an outside tap and a power point makes some jobs faster, and we’ll ask about it when you book so nothing is a surprise on the day.
- Can you groom the car at my workplace?
- Yes, and a lot of people do exactly that — the car sits in the car park all day anyway. You just need somewhere we’re allowed to work and a way to get us the keys.
- Can you get pet hair and sand out of the carpet?
- Usually, though heavily embedded hair takes specialist tools and time, and sand worked deep into seat seams may need a shampoo rather than a vacuum. Tell us before the booking and we’ll allow for it instead of running out of time.
- What should I book before selling the car or handing back a lease?
- A full detail. Buyers and lease inspectors both read the interior as a proxy for how the car has been treated, so seat and carpet shampoo, paint decontamination and a polish do more for the outcome than a basic wash.
